SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – December 13, 2013 – South Texas Money Management, Ltd. (STMM) has announced that Leah Bennett, CFA, CIC, has been named Co-Chief Investment Officer of the firm. Jeanie Wyatt, CFA, who founded the firm 13 years ago, will remain Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer.
Bennett joined STMM in August of this year as a senior portfolio manager and investment analyst. Since joining the firm, she has worked closely with Christian Ledoux, CFA, Senior Portfolio Manager and Director of Equity Research, in overseeing and coordinating the equity research efforts for STMM’s team of research analysts.
Bennett has over 20 years of investment experience. Prior to joining STMM, she spent 18 years with King Investment Advisors, Inc. in Houston, where she was a Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer, as well as a member of the firm’s Investment Advisory Group. Prior to that, she was a research analyst for Capital Research & Management in Los Angeles. Bennett graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Economics, and is a CFA® Charterholder and a Chartered Investment Counselor.
Bennett was involved with the CFA Research Challenge in its inaugural year in 2006. The challenge is an annual global competition that provides approximately 3500 university students from over 800 universities with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis.
Bennett was also a Co-founder of the CFA Research Challenge Southwest (Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana). In addition, she was elected as a CFA Presidents Council Representative. In this role, Bennett represents her region, which includes the South Central U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil, as a liaison to the CFA’s Board of Governors (www.cfainstitute.org). She also sits on the CFA Institute’s Growth Funding and Presidents Council Governance committees, and holds the role of Research Challenge Liaison. Bennett serves on the M. A. Wright Fund Oversight Board and the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University as well.
