STMM Names Executive Vice Presidents

NAMES THREE EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENTS WITHIN THE FIRM

 

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (January 21, 2013) – J. Hutch Bryan, CFA, Teri Grubb, and Christina Markell-Balleza, JD have been named Executive Vice Presidents at South Texas Money Management, Ltd. (STMM).  The title of Executive Vice President is given to individuals who have acquired the education and/or licensing credentials for their field, and who have attained at least 10 years of industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility.

 

Hutch Bryan has been with the firm since August of 2009, and is STMM’s Director of Fixed Income.  He is responsible for fixed income portfolio management of client portfolios, with an emphasis on tax exempt and taxable municipal bonds.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bryan spent eight years with AIG Investments in New York, where he was a Vice President and Municipal Bond Portfolio Manager.  Mr. Bryan earned a BBA and a BA from Southern Methodist University, and an MBA from Texas A&M University.  He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute.  During his time at STMM, the firm’s fixed income assets under management have exceeded half a billion dollars.

 

Teri Grubb joined STMM in June of 2011, and was named Chief Operating Officer in September of that year.  Ms. Grubb works directly with the CEO and President of the firm on overall operations, including internal communications, human resource management, and client services.  Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Grubb was employed with Austin, Calvert & Flavin, Inc. where she served as Chief Compliance Officer.  Ms. Grubb received a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Development with a minor in Marketing, and a Master of Arts in Organizational Development from the University of the Incarnate Word. 

 

Christina Markell-Balleza has been Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel for STMM since she joined the firm in September of 2011.  She is responsible for the oversight and implementation of the compliance program, regulatory matters, and all legal matters.  In addition, Ms. Markell-Balleza also serves on STMM’s Management Team and the Wealth Management Platform investment committee.  Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Markell-Balleza spent eight years working in the investment funds and business planning practices of Haynes and Boone, LLP in Dallas.  Ms. Markell-Balleza received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Honors Program (cum laude) from St. Mary's University, and a Juris Doctorate with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin.
