Job Title: Operations Associate 

Job Location: San Antonio, Texas

The Operations Associate will serve as member of STMM’s operations, back-office team. This position is responsible for a variety of money movement tasks, new account documents, and some account reconciliation work. This position reports to the Vice President, Director of Operations.

The general duties of this job may consist of:

Provide strong customer service and client experience to all clients:

  • Facilitate fund/asset movement
    • Work with Relationship Managers to move money and assets in client accounts
    • Work directly with clients to move money and assets
  • Track money movement within client accounts to assist with portfolio management and to notify Relationship Managers of account attrition.
  • Create client records and maintain client account data in the accounting system and CRM systems
  • Work with Operations team on all tasks related to new accounts:
    • Ensure timely and consistent delivery of new account paperwork to Relationship Managers
    • Review documents for accuracy and completeness
    • Facilitate the opening of new accounts and the transfer of assets at the custodian
  • Reconcile account holdings, transactions, cost basis and market value to custodian bank records for equity and fixed income accounts; research and resolve any differences
  • Ensure the timely processing of corporate action events
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Operations and/or Chief Operating Officer

Requirements:

A successful candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance. Prior experience in investment back-office operations is considered a plus, but not required. Knowledge of equity and fixed income securities is also considered a plus. The candidate should be able to work with large amounts of data within Microsoft Excel and they should exhibit proficiency with the rest of Microsoft Office suite including Word and Outlook. Familiarity with Bloomberg, Access and prior work experience with a portfolio accounting system, CRM software and custodian bank websites considered a plus. Must have critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and willingness to follow through on tasks to completion. The candidate will need to handle competing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure. Effective proactive communication to all areas of the firm as well as with third party vendors and associates is of utmost importance in this dynamic role. He/she must uphold excellent attendance, punctuality and professionalism.
