Julia Gavrilov joined South Texas Money Management in March 2015 as an Investment Advisor in the Austin office. She brings to the firm broad analytical expertise and knowledge of investments. Ms. Gavrilov examines each client’s situation and is committed to finding the investment solution to meet the individual goals.
Prior to joining South Texas Money Management, Ms. Gavrilov was a financial advisor with Per Stirling Capital Management in Austin, TX, where she evaluated, optimized and rebalanced client investment holdings, conducted ETF and Mutual Fund research, developed an investment screen, and constructed model and custom portfolios for tax-sheltered accounts.
In her earlier career, Ms. Gavrilov, an economist by training, worked for fourteen years at the nation’s foremost research organization, the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), near Santa Fe, NM, conducting research and analysis related to national security issues and assisting policy-makers in Washington in making informed decisions.
Ms. Gavrilov has had a keen interest in financial markets for a long time. In 2000, while working for LANL, she co-founded with her husband a small financial research company, which explored various trading strategies for US equities. The interest in financial markets has led her to seek the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. In December 2013, Julia passed the level 1 exam.
Ms. Gavrilov has a Masters degree in Economics from Lomonosov Moscow State University in Moscow, Russia, and an Associate Degree in Financial Accounting from The University of New Mexico. She is currently a level II candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst program.
Ms. Gavrilov is active in her church, volunteering as a treasurer and a parish council member.
